The spectacular South Burnett Region of Queensland is located about 100 km north-west of Brisbane and 150 km west of the Sunshine Coast. It includes the area from the Blackbutt Range through to the Kilkivan Shire near Gympie. The geography of South Burnett is dominated by its many mountain ranges, with the Coast Range and Blackbutt Range to the east, the Great Dividing Ranges to the west, and the Booie and Stuart Ranges run from south to north through the centre. The South Burnett has rich fertile agricultural lands, beautiful National Parks with rainforest walks, gem fossicking, fantastic wineries and excellent freshwater fishing. The main town is Kingaroy with is known for its peanuts. The South Burnett is largest wine region in Queensland with extensive vineyards and more than 20 wineries and cellar doors. The Region also boasts two magnificent inland waterways offering fantastic fishing and a variety of water sports - Bjelke-Petersen Dam and Lake Boondooma. The picturesque Bunya Mountains has wonderful bushwalking and camping and the region produces a wonderful range of fresh food products.
