North Stradbroke Island, located in Moreton Bay near Brisbane, has a wonderful blend of pristine beaches, rugged coastal landscape and peaceful inland lakes that offers the ideal holiday destination. North Stradbroke Island is one of the biggest sand islands in Australia. It is located at the southern end of Moreton Bay. It is easily accessible by vehicle ferry and water taxi from Cleveland. The broad yellow-white sandy beaches on North Stradbroke Island stretch as far as the eye can see and are fringed by the blue ocean providing excellent surfing, swimming and fishing. The villages on the island include Point Lookout, Dunwich and Amity Point, which are all located at the northern end of the island. The southern part of the island is a sand mining area. There are excellent bushwalking trails around North Stradbroke Island with scenic views. The freshwater lakes in the island`s centre provide beautiful picnic and swimming spots. You can swim in Brown Lake, Blue Lake and Tortoise Lagoon. At Point Lookout there are a wide range of water sports activities available. There are excellent surfing spots on the northern beaches, with swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving and sea kayaking also popular. You can join tours offering various activities including snorkelling, sand boarding, sea-kayaking and 4WD adventures.
