Nanango is a small town in the South Burnett Region of Queensland, located about 200 km north-west of Brisbane, at the junction of the D'Aguilar and Burnett Highways. The major industries are power generation, coal mining, pork and beef and pork production, dairying and milk products, timber production and processing, various horticulture crops, arts and crafts and tourism.Nanango is one of the oldest towns in Queensland and has a rich heritage shown at the historic Ringsfield House. Nanango is the home to the Tarong Power Station and Coal Mine and the vibrant town has rich attractions and tourist activities for every taste. You can fossickers for gold at the Seven-Mile Diggings, which also has fantastic 4WD tracks. Fossicking and recreational permits can be obtained from the Information Centre. Visit the Tipperary Flat - featuring pioneering displays and walks. Take a trip to Maidenwell, which is the gateway to the magnificent Bunya Mountains, featuring Coomba Falls and many challenging walking trails. Visit local food outlets and winery cellar doors that are part of the South Burnett Food and Wine Trail.
