The magnificent Lamington National Park is located on the Lamington Plateau in the Gold Coast Hinterland. It is included in the World Heritage area, the Central Eastern Rainforest Reserves, on the Queensland and New South Wales border. The park is located about 85 km from Southport on the Gold Coast and 120 km south of Brisbane. The ranges, plateaus and cliffs in Springbrook and Lamington National Parks are part of the Scenic Rim which is the Western remnants of a huge volcano, centred around Mount Warning. Lamington National Park covers over 20,000 hectares and features extensive walking tracks along the McPherson Range, scenic lookouts, waterfalls and wonderful camping areas. Lamington National Park Rugged mountain scenery, caves, rainforest, tumbling waterfalls, wildflower heaths, tall open forests, picturesque creeks and fascinating diverse wildlife. The national park campground can be found in the Green Mountains section, 200m from the Information Centre. Camping permits are required and should be mocked in advance for school holidays and weekends. The famous Binna Burra Mountain Lodge also manages a camping ground. The other famous lodge in the area is O`Reillys Rainforest Guest House.
