Bribie Island is a magnificent sand island located on the northern side of Moreton Bay, separated from the mainland by the splendid recreational waters of Pumicestone Passage that is heaven for fishing and boating. Bribie Island is easy to access for a wonderful holiday as it is connected to the Queensland coast by a bridge that was completed in 1963. Bribie Island is two-faced. There is the calm side facing the Pumicestone Passage with sheltered family-friendly beaches and calm waters that are ideal for boating, kayaking, sailing and fishing. The eastern exposed side of Bribie Island offers excellent surf, long sandy beaches and beautiful sand dunes. Most of the island is a National Park and forestry plantations, offering excellent bushwalking and camping. The southern end of the island has housing developments, resorts and facilities for holiday makers and day-visitors that flock to the island during the summer months. There is a huge range of places to stay on the beachfront and waterfront on Bribie Island.
